Fuchsrot by Bode Studios is a fragrance for men. This is a new fragrance. Fuchsrot was launched in 2022. The nose behind this fragrance is Andreas Wilhelm. Top notes are Green Pepper, Violet Leaf, Cognac and Lemon; middle notes are Cypress, Violet Leaf, Mimosa and Iris; base notes are Tonka Bean, Vetiver, Guaiac Wood and Leather.

The Eau de Parfum Fuchsrot by Bode Studios™ identifies itself with a classic natural and grassy fragrance note. The violet leaves and green pepper embody strength, passion and support the powerful fragrance combination of fern and noble guaiac wood.

The fragrance extends strikingly and is dominated by the grassy fougère note until the woody-leathery and heavier scents emerge. With a touch of vetyver, the fragrance is long-lasting with a slightly tropical touch.

The tonka beans give the perfume a sensual rounding, which at the same time has an exotic and aromatic fragrance effect. In addition, the eau de parfum is 100% vegan.

I really wanted to like this fragrance, based on the description and especially the name, but it's to cypress forward for me (I hate it and it wasn't mentioned in the description on the website). It's a warm, herby scent, reminding one of dry summer days. I smell the tonka bean, which is a nice background. All in all not for me.

The opening smells like a fresh green bell pepper with a starchy texture, and it reminds me most of Iris Cendre by Naomi Goodsir. Overall it reads more like a Comme de Garcons fragrance though- the smooth, aromatic leather comes through fairly soon after applying and feels as avant garde as Copper or Concrete. It's sophisticated but engineered to be weird, in the same way that CDG plays into odd, monochrome pallettes and textures. Bits of interesting notes come through the ozonic, vegetal iris-suede for some interest. I get a little sweet dustiness from mimosa, some aromatic woods, and maybe a gentle liquer note that is hard to pin down. I wanted to say there's a petrol vibe similar to Fahrenheit with all the violet leaf, but it's not really similar and could be the cognac accord I'm sensing instead. There's also a complex but subtle warmth I can't identify. Maybe it's a warm spice similar to anise like a reviewer below mentioned. At this point I appreciate the interesting freshness, but it does feel a little funky from the vegetable water vibe I'm getting from it. In its last and final stages I pick up the powdery tonka bean becoming more present, almost to the exclusion of other things. It's fun but I'm not sure it's attractive. It's something I'll come back to though.

Sugary cucumber lemonade, some gin tonic vibes too. The violet leaf ruins it, i dont like the paper-y pencil shavings smell. The drydown is better, it gets more woody, but less pencilshaving-y, but still has some annoying background noise.

In this I recognize notes of tonka, guajac, vetiver on a watery green carpet of blue cypress and strong hints similar to liquorice, anise, mint, helichrysum... It has an interesting vibe, alcoholic, but fresh from shaving at the beginning which then evolves sweet and dusty and becomes suffocating to my nose over time.
Strange.
The finish is more mature, with a strongly powdery and not very "digestible" texture. Sorry.

Gotta hand it to the Germans for their commitment in naming this. but, on the upside, "What the Fuchsrot" is now a part of my daily vernacular so Danke!

Currently testing this beauty. On my skin, a cucumber bomb in the first 30 minutes, then turns to gin tonic. Cypress on me is very forward with a soft violet touch, amazingly unisex in my opinion. I can imagine wearing it in the long run!
