Kappa 河童

from £5.00

Kappa (河童) is a Japanese folklore monster also known as kawataro (川太郎), komahiki (駒引), or kawako (川虎). The kappa’s appearance is described differently from region to region, but is generally depicted as a child-sized turtle-like creature with a beak, as well as having a wet cavity atop its hairless head. If this water spills or dries up, the kappa could die. Don’t let the cute face fool you—other than cucumbers, a kappa’s favourite food is human children!

Available in two sizes. Frame not included.
