Play Thing by Nicola Marsh is about a shy women caught in a unbelievable situation and ends up sleeping with a good looking man then the next day finds out the good looking man is the new boss 😱 It simple, it's fun and it's wickedly sexy if you need a quick easy read then this I would recommend 💜
Play Thing by Nicola Marsh is a steamy workplace romance and the third story in her Hot Sydney Nights series. CEO Alex Bronson is working on a company revamp when he decides to visit the Sydney office of his accounting firm The Number Makers, with a goal to promote one of his employees, Charlotte Baxter. When he arrives he also checks on some of his property, including a warehouse that is being vacated by a current tenant. There he meets an attractive woman packing up a stock of sex toys and lingerie and indulges in a mutually satisfying steamy interlude. It’s only when they are cleaning up that he realizes why the woman seemed vaguely familiar – she’s one of his Sydney office employees!
Charlotte can’t believe that the one time she indulges in a moment of indiscretion, it’s with her long distance boss who is in town for a month. She’d been packing up her aunt’s online store supplies when the sexy, handsome man had shown up at the warehouse and she’d not known who he was until encountering him at the office the next day. Alex has a heads up having recognized a particular phrase she’d used after their hot sex but Charlotte had been taken unawares. Not to be outdone, she can act professional and get their relationship back on its expected track. But there’s no hiding the chemistry between them and when Alex proposes a short termed fling while he’s in town, promising to keep business and pleasure separate, Charlotte agrees. Of course it’s a recipe for trouble as they get more attached. But with Charlotte happy with her current career and location and Alex a traveler by nature and not looking for commitment, can they find a way to a long term relationship?
The third book in Nicola Marsh's Dare series, this one features a shy workaholic heroine who used to live in a share house with the two heroines from the first two books. They've both found their HEA, and now she wonders if there is more to life than working towards her dream house.
She meets the hero in hilarious romance meet-cute style (gotta love a fun meet-cute), and they have an (out of character for her) quickie. Only for her to discover he's her new boss at work.
They negotiate the boundaries of their working relationship and it's a hot ride towards HEA.
Dare, a new line at Harelquin, dares to go there…where ever the dare author wants to take it. Harlequin, Mills and Boons usually has a line that goes beyond "love" scenes. There is many a person that might even suggest their hottest lines cross into soft porn. Whatever... this line is HOT and does dare to go beyond what other lines will do. But it isn't just in the sex arena. Now this story has your typical billionaire businessman and underling, but some stories have sports figures and more than usual are 1st person narratives. This particular story has the "meet cute" occur in a warehouse. She's packing up her aunt's sex toys business and the businessman who owns the warehouse stops by to check the property out before he sells it. This uptight accountant has stripped and put on some racy little number and he walks in. She who is shy and would never act out a sexual fantasy goes for it. At the end of the encounter she uses a phrase that triggers a light bulb moment for the businessman. And the story is off and running. It is a fast read, a real page burner...I mean, page turner. If you like steamy romances this line is for you...and so is any of this author's work.
The book blurb, the hot cover, and my enjoyment of the author's earlier works is what prompted me to request Play Thing, the third book from Nicola Marsh's Hot Sydney Nights series. This is a seductive read with two main characters that are quite interesting. However, the plot itself lost some of its excitement somewhere in the middle and never regained a heightened momentum.
Corporate accountant Charlotte Baxter is a bit of a wallflower, yet she has a wild side as well. She loves her job, even though her new boss, who is also the company's new owner, has never shown his face in the Sydney office. Now that Alex Bronson is finally making an appearance, she is a little nervous. Charlotte wants to be the new manager of the branch, and her hard work, dedication and ability to woo potential clients, speaks for itself. She needs a little spice in her life and Alex is just the man to do the job.
Due to humble beginnings, Alex is a down-to-earth, hardworking, rich man. He finds Charlotte to be quite smart and attractive, and their sexual chemistry is off the charts. Mixing pleasure and business is quite difficult at times, but they manage. Charlotte's dream of buying a little cottage and settling down is the complete opposite of Alex's. Alex enjoys his nomadic lifestyle and being in a committed relationship is not in his future. However, Charlotte gets under his skin and their fling evolves into much more.
This story opens with a bang, and as a result I was immediately engaged. Charlotte and Alex are a hot couple and their sexy times are steamy and lustful. I really liked Charlotte's aunt, because her easiness about her sexual toy/lingerie business was quite liberating. Overall, a solid read.
