Yurukill: The Calumniation Games News
I really enjoy the game a lot, and it's easily one of my favorites. The story and art style are probably my favorite parts. It was a pleasant surprise when I saw the whole thing was voiced since I don't see that often in dialogue-based games. And all the voice actors involved did an amazing job!! It was nice seeing tropes that aren't commonly used in media. Combined with the pleasantly clashing art style, interesting characters, and a well-chosen soundtrack to pull it all together, I was easily immersed. I also appreciated that all the characters had their own complex personalities and backgrounds. I think giving each pair their own arcs/side story was a great way to give them a sort of spotlight so they weren't lost in the woodwork and connect them with the player. Especially Hananka and Oka's scene, for example. I found it was beautifully written and painted a picture of how complex and beautiful relationships between people can be despite even the most seemingly impossible odds.
Futa and Raita's story also struck chords as well, demonstrating love and trust between two people. The plot twists within the story were also well delivered. and the variety of different relationships was refreshing. Adding in shoot 'em up parts throughout the whole game also made it stand out a lot too, which I liked. As for feedback on the puzzles and riddles. They're great too and tie into the story very well and stumped me pretty well on my first playthrough, but I feel that they were somewhat put on a backburner when you compare it to all the obvious thought and effort that was put into everything else. I wish they were at least switched up a little when you changed difficulty level the same as the shoot 'em up. Otherwise, it was a great game and I hope there's a sequel. If there ever is one, I'll definitely buy it too. :)
