The most famous son of the city of Bad Windsheim, the German physician and natural scientist Georg Wilhelm Steller described in 1741 a giant cow (Hydrodamalis gigas), which is extinct today.
In addition to a monument in the city center, this sculpture is also intended to commemorate this event and Steller.
