Best Hikes to Reesbergdoline (HWN 214)
Tips
  • Very large and active sinkhole

  • The spring water emerges below the Bundsteinsand layer and flows in the direction of Reesberg. There, due to the small flow currents, gypsum is detached and carried away. After several years, this resulted in the Reesbergdoline, where the water then disappears from the surface and continues to flow underground in the anhydrite.

  • The Reesbergdoline is located between the karst cave Heimkehle near Uftrungen and the Reesberg in the forest area of the old Stolberg.
