Why "Bad" Gorge?
The word "bad" is used in this place name to mean ominous and dangerous. The name probably comes from earlier times, when the timber raftsmen who used the Frutz as a transport route for logs out into the Rhine Valley had difficulty passing through this narrow passage.
Today, hikers find a well-secured path.
