We're back with another installment of our transparency series, aimed at providing insights into the realities of entry-level sports salaries and early-career positions. This time, Sam talks about her first job post-college with the Salem Red Sox. You might be surprised to learn that while the pay was minimal, the experience and people made it one of her favorite roles ever. https://lnkd.in/g_EgHvaR

Last week, we had the opportunity to attend another espnW Summit, one of our favorite days of the year. It was incredible to learn from some of the leading voices in women’s sports and connect with the powerhouse women (and men!) accelerating progress in this space. Special shout out to Sarah Spain for being a source of inspiration and empowerment as the Summit moderator, and to all of the featured panelists. The best part of the day? Having the chance to reconnect with old friends and mentors, like Shaun Jayachandran, Emily Jo Roberts, and Julie Foudy, and meet members of the empowHERed community for the first time, including Jenny Nguyen, Sydney Wright, and Angela Randle! We’re already looking forward to next year!

What's the number one thing you hear about starting a career in sports? That you better get used to long hours and low pay. But nobody ever tells you what that really means. So let's get real. In our new series, we're being totally transparent about what it was like being in those entry-level roles - everything from salaries to work-life balance to mental states. Meghan shares her experience in this week's blog! https://lnkd.in/gjtEk2yp

The first event we attended after launching empowHERed was the espnW Summit. It was an impactful day of learning and connection and led to so many incredible opportunities over the last year. We're so excited to be returning to the Summit tomorrow and looking forward to another amazing conference. If you're attending, let us know. We'd love to connect

🙌 Yesterday I had the opportunity to joined empowHERed to share my journey with Flame Bearers + provide tips for individuals trying to break into the world of sports. One question I was asked is how I de-stress. 📜 I have a menu of go-tos because when I'm stressed, I can't think. Here are my top 5 -- drop yours below, as I'd love to add to this list! 👟 EXERCISE. It could be a run, a yoga class, bike ride, or just a 15 minute walk outside between calls. For me, moving is an automatic mood reset. 💕 MY PEOPLE. Spending time or calling my people -- they always pick me up when I'm down and can turn the worst days into manageable (or sometimes great) ones. 🍦 FOOD. When I'm down, I go to food, and when particularly stressed, I'm all about the ice cream and sour candy. While this may not be the healthiest coping mechanism, in moderation it works for me as a mental light switch 🛁 BUBBLE BATH. There's nothing like a good bubble bath to reset. Light a candle + toss in the bath bomb. 💤 SLEEP. When all else fails, I like to call a day early and wake up early the next day after a good night's sleep. Thanks Meghan O'Donnell, M.S. and Samantha Ward for this opportunity!
