Real-time Research Update – Our experimental scale membrane biological reactors (MBRs) trial is complete. Reusing the permeate from the MBRs in the RAS allowed us to operate with system hydraulic retention (HRT) times approaching 100 days while raising healthy 2-3 kg rainbow trout.    Long HRT results in turbid water that can present challenges with feed capture and general husbandry. By applying ozone to the MBR equipped RAS we were able to achieve clear water and long HRT.    You can view the RAS water clarity improve after turning on the ozone generators in the time-lapse video below.      #FIresearch #RAS #innovation #wastewater
