It was great to connect with so many colleagues on-site and online during last week's Informatics Dialogue. Opportunity, Action, Central, and Winning were the four words used to summarise the perception of the role in Informatics at Roche. The energy in the room, coupled with the content discussed, highlighted once again that there has never been a better time to be in Informatics! Informatics has tremendous power as a central function, propelling innovation, efficiency and transformative solutions. Gen AI stands out as one of the key focus area for innovation: cutting-edge technological and scientific expertise will stay at the centre of our business model, and AI will elevate our capabilities. Additionally, ASPIRE is a key project where Informatics plays a vital role in enabling Roche's digital backbone. We have a great team to tackle the challenges and opportunities that arise in the digital field. Success lies in simplicity and having a strong spirit! Yesterday we had an inspiring and informative session at our first Global Finance Town Hall of 2024 focused on our business and Finance priorities. The purpose of this event was to connect as a team, learn about recent business developments, and strengthen our collective commitment in Finance to high performance in Roche to do the best for our patients. A special thanks goes to Sophie Godlevsky for the great moderation as well as my leadership team members Marielle Beyer, Ed Harrington and Richard von Manteuffel for joining me in a panel around our clear priorities: Our people, our Finance ambitions and ASPIRE, Roche’s digital backbone. Last week, I had the privilege to join my colleagues, Roche CEO Thomas Schinecker and CEO of Roche Pharmaceuticals Teresa Harris Graham, in a dialogue about our strategic priorities and the power of collective leadership in shaping an integrated Informatics. This is especially crucial as AI continues to advance and opens up new opportunities in healthcare. At Roche, our commitment to excellence goes beyond delivering integrated healthcare solutions; it extends to the seamless delivery of those innovations to patients. That’s where Informatics comes in, serving as a central function that embodies the company’s purpose.   Thank you to my CEC colleagues and Informatics leadership team for the relevant insights and to everyone who contributed to making this event a great success. As announced today, Roche has entered into a definitive agreement with Lonza, under which Lonza will acquire the Genentech Vacaville manufacturing facility in California, U.S.A. for USD 1.2 billion in conjunction with a manufacturing agreement and related quality services and warehousing. Today’s announcement concludes a competitive diligence process with multiple potential strategic partners for the facility. This decision aligns with our strategic goal of diversifying our portfolio to keep pace with changing market trends and new technologies. We are very pleased that under the terms of these agreements, Lonza will offer employment to the Vacaville employees at the site. My sincerest thanks go out to our Vacaville colleagues, the Finance teams, and everyone involved at Roche and Genentech for their outstanding support and commitment.
