Treasures from the archives, part 23 I love historical items that show the traces of a long time in use, that sort of charm that would’ve been destroyed with a restoration back to condition of the day of delivery. This so-called “Elektrotester” for electrical car or motorbike components was made by Bosch in 1957. In those times, it was ahead of time, being easily transportable with the weight of below 10 kg. Might sound funny from today’s perspective, but in those times, it was a masterpiece of light weight testing equipment. A couple of years ago we got this test cabinet from the Bosch test equipment branch having been received from a Bosch Car Service owner on his way to retirement. I am very thankful that we have many people at Bosch, who keep their eyes open for items that could be worth being archived. And if I had a BMW Isetta or a NSU Max motorcycle manufactured in those days, it would be easy to bring this test suitcase back into action testing 1950s vehicles’ electric equipment.

It’s a wonderful post. I started my career at a “Bosch Dienst” in 1972. I learned to become an “Ankerwickler” Time went by…Well, now I’m still working for BCI on behalf of BMS after my retirement in 2019 as an Engineer for Automation called NEXEED. It’s amazing to me getting posts like yours! And we should never forget our roots. Thanks 😊

Absolutely love this - so great to see that such historic test equipment get preserved and not scrapped - these devices were ingeniously created and highly innovative - there is still much we can learn from this era of technology!
