Mozart's historical travels -Journey to Paris September 23, 1777 - mid-January 1779 On September 23, 1777, Mozart leaves his hometown Salzburg with his mother to travel to Mannheim and Paris. In Mannheim, Wolfgang falls in love with Aloysia Weber, the sister of his future wife Constanze. Here, under the influence of the Mannheim School, he writes particularly moving works. The two arrived in the Seine metropolis on March 23, 1778. The journey was arduous, marked by strong winds and rain. His mother died in July 1778. Wolfgang was disappointed by Parisian society. He is left to fester; no notice is taken of him and his piano playing is ignored. Photo: © European Mozart Ways
