Multi-level dialogues aim at bringing together relevant stakeholders to discuss updated National Energy and Climate Plans, fostering vertical and horizontal integration of energy and climate policies and helping Member States comply with the EU Governance Regulation. Just as the organisation of dialogues is speeding up in many of the LIFE #NECPlatform project, we thought it would be good to see where we stand in March 2024, more than halfway through the project with another year to go. We’ve asked the six EU Member States that the NECPlatform project supports how many multi-level dialogue events they organised, what is the share of national vs local stakeholders in the dialogues, and whether the project countries mention the project in their draft NECPs, submitted to the European Commission in 2023. What about the NECPR? The National Energy and Climate Action Plan Reporting (NECPR), due by Member States every two years and gathering data about the implementation and achievements of the National Energy and Climate Plans. The 2023 versions by Bulgaria, Croatia, Italy and Romania mentioned the work done in the NECPlatform project. The European Commission has awarded EUR 172 million to support 13 R&I projects that will contribute directly to the energy independence of the EU & the goals of #REPowerEU The 13 projects were selected following calls in March and April 2023 under #HorizonEU Cluster 5 (Climate, Energy and Mobility), covering three overarching destinations: sustainable, secure and competitive energy supply; efficient, sustainable and inclusive energy use; clean and competitive solutions for all transport modes.
