12th Session of IACA Assembly of Parties International Anti-Corruption Academy at the United Nations Office at Vienna Honored to have been invited as a panelist for a round table discussion on "Current and Emerging Trends and Challenges in the Prevention of and Combating Corruption." The conversation delved into the landscape of corruption prevention, exploring the latest trends (i.a. Artificial Intelligence) and addressing the evolving challenges we face. Engaging with experts, especially Shervin M., Martín Zapata and Pawan Sinha, and sharing insights has been inspiring. I focused on the topic of "new technologies" and the question, if AI can either be a powerful tool for transparency or a double-edged sword exacerbating biases. Thanks to International Anti-Corruption Academy for organizing this impactful dialogue. More than 100 delegates from all around the world participated in the 12th session of the AoP, representing more than 50 national and institutional delegations. Looking forward to continued collaboration and collective efforts in the fight against corruption. Through development of youth initiatives Transparency International Austria aims to raise awareness among students for corruption. TI-Austria participated in anti-corruption workshops, which have been organized by the Federal Bureau of Anti-Corruption Bundesamt zur Korruptionsprävention und Korruptionsbekämpfung (BAK) in various schools in Austria (i.a. Last week I had the opportunity to chair and moderate the imh Institut Manfred Hämmerle GmbH conference on whistleblowing. Key notes and a panel discussion focused on the long-awaited implementation of the EU Whistleblowing Directive into national legislation via the Whistleblower Protection Act (HSchG). Thanks to practical recommendations from experts, inter alia Katharina Kitzberger, Rudolf Schwab and Georg H. Jeitler, various questions from the audience could be clarified.
