Today, we are diving into PART 3 of our series: '5 German prepositions you need to know.'   Whether you're organizing to meet a friend 'um' (around) 8 o'clock 🕗 or guiding someone to the park located 'gegenüber' (opposite) the train station 🚉, these prepositions are the linchpin that binds the sentence together, giving it a clear direction and deeper meaning.   1) 'Um' - surrounds your time with flexibility, like a friend saying, "Wir treffen uns um 8 Uhr." (We're meeting at around 8 o'clock.)   2) 'An' - places you at a precise location, like in the sentence "Ich treffe dich an der Bushaltestelle." (I'll meet you at the bus stop.)   3) 'Bei' - connects you with people or places, as in "Ich bin bei meiner Freundin." (I'm at my friend's place.)   4) 'Seit' - bridges the gap between past and present, offering a sense of duration. For example, "Ich lerne Deutsch seit einem Jahr." (I've been learning German for a year.)   5) 'Gegenüber' - directs your attention to something across from you. "Der Park ist gegenüber dem Bahnhof." Modern Talking is launching its first-ever Online Serbian Summer Crash Course!   If you’re generally on a busy schedule and simply can’t attend classes several times a week…   You want to get a sense of the basics so you can hold small talk, understand cultural diversity, and make conversation at parties and gatherings…   You want to accelerate the learning curve…   Or you simply want to do something fun during the summer…   Then the Serbian Crash Course is the perfect opportunity for you.   There will be 10 lessons in total, each one lasting 80 minutes, and they will take place twice a week (Saturday and Sunday).   The groups will be very small (5-8 people).   And most importantly…   The first lesson is free.   You can attend the first lesson free of charge and decide whether or not the program is for you. When I was famous... Ok, maybe not 'famous', but I did feature in a local Austrian newspaper in 2019 💁♂️ It was during a very hot summer in Austria (not sure how common that is) when I was travelling around the country working with children from local schools, who had never had the chance to meet a native English speaker. So, enter a 6ft-3" and very pale Englishman, and the awe on their faces was brilliant! 😯😂 Although this was only a short-term programme, I loved it - I mean, who doesn't love to travel? But I also learned so much about my 'adaptability': ✅ I learned how to modify my teaching style to best suit a completely new demographic of students [1st time with non-Spanish or Italian students]. ✅ I learned how to maximise resources that were delivered to us just 15 minutes before our classes began, often requiring improvisation. ✅ I learned how to be less strict with the planned content and to allow the class to flow in a more relaxed (yet still productive) way. Aside from working with the children and all of the wonderful members of staff, the reward was my newfound sense of 'adaptability' and even trust in myself when working under pressure. ...not forgetting, of course, that I got to feature in a local newspaper as the company's representative for future programmes 😎 (see below).
