Trying to construct a routine that supports both who I am and the related (daily) activities. Here's a start: 1. Practice just being. 2. Watch what happens. 3. Act accordingly. Some background: I've long been interested in Daoist (Taoist?) philosophy and ways of living that are close to nature and as unfiltered as possible (practical?). German philosopher and program host Gert Scobel introduces these themes here and explains how to apply the concept of Doing Not-Doing to get to the heart of living where acting is as simple as, and nothing other than, breathing. #beginagain #routine #pathlesspath #Zhuangzi #philosophy NOTE: In German, but plug "Zhuangzi butcher" into a search engine for lots of information in English. https://lnkd.in/eNhGvbtq

Rationality, Dummerjöns, and Intelligentia The famous Nordic children's author H.C. Andersen in 'Dummerjöns'* forces us to ask whether human #intelligence (e.g. IQ tests and memory) is enough to make us #rational individuals, not least that it can help to #calculate all possible outcomes in advance, and if so, what prevents an intelligent person from being able to face the real #challenge in a specific unforeseen context. Story: A man lives with his two sons, the first one knows Latin dictionaries and even remembers newspaper articles from the past three years, and another could talk about all the laws of the city and can even embroider suspenders with great skill. Meanwhile, the princess is looking for a man who can speak for himself, so these two young men prepare themselves in more than a week to impress the princess for marriage. There is another third son (Dummerjöns) in the family who is treated as an outlier, therefore, is not equipped with similar skills and knowledge as the other two men. On the way to the princess for proposing to her, Dummerjöns happens to collect three objects, a dead crow, an old wooden shoe, and mud. These two older brothers could not even tolerate the heat and, the situation it created in the room could not contextualize the skills and knowledge these men have been familiar with. Nevertheless, Dummerjöns did not only speak for himself, he even presents what should be done with his three objects in such a spontaneous situation, and that resulted in him being worthy of a crown. #Stiegler (2011)** asks if rationality is about calculating possible outcomes in advance, then it would lead to excluding the horizon of infinite #possibilities so that one becomes imprisoned by one's own calculations. He writes, ‘… because rationality is precisely, to speak with Kant, that which is not calculable. Understanding is the calculation, but rationality isn’t. Rationality, on the contrary, is infinitization.’. Here, the older brothers have failed to prove either intelligentia or rationality to impress the princess due to predicting the outcome in advance, just stuck in calculations. Dummerjöns thus took an unconventional approach of not calculating future processes and outcomes, i.e. being open (infinitization) to all possibilities that the objects (Technics) would complement to speak for himself in such a specific context that required a distinct action and engagement. * In (2004) by Bonnier Carlsen © ** In ‘Lemmens, P. Guest article by #Heinz #Luediger: "The #illusion of #time or where #Kant erred" In this new guest article by Heinz Luediger, who has already frequently published his excellent guest contributions (see "Sketch of a Negative Structuralism" or "Dialectics minus illusion equals metaphysics?") this time it is about the concept of time. of time. I find his essay very interesting, as it is an excellent complement to my other article "A structured history of time" and takes a philosophical view of the whole thing perspective from the pre-Socratics to Kant illuminated. In doing so, he spans a "logical thread" through the history of philosophy, which is based on the metaphysical concepts of "being and becoming" and culminates in the steep thesis that "time" is identical with "logic" is identical. But Mr. Luediger in his essay published here rather himself explain it himself. More at: https://lnkd.in/eQhmMExM

CURA PERSONALIS: The Ignatian-Jesuit characteristic of cura personalis is Latin for “care for the whole person”. As a spiritual practice, it guides one to the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of existence which in turn can provide an organic congruency that passes over to beautiful results.

Everything wrong with Lacan in 10 parts. Part five: The Real. 'The Real expects nothing, especially not of the Subject, as it expects nothing of speech. But it is there, identical to its own existence, a noise in which one can hear everything, ready to submerge with its splinters what the reality principle has built under the name of external world'. --- ‘There are no cracks, no interior or exterior – these distinctions are meaningless in the Real. Only the Symbolic can introduce some cuts in the Real'. --- ‘It is the world of words that creates the world of things, initially mixed up in the here and now of the whole in becoming'. - Jacques Lacan, Seminar XI, 'The Four Fundamental Concepts of Psychoanalysis', 1977. Notes: The reality principle: (Freud) an ego is educated to become reasonable, no longer letting itself be governed by the pleasure principle but obeying the reality principle which also at bottom seeks to obtain pleasure but pleasure assured through taking account of reality, even though it is pleasure postponed and diminished. Lacan wrote about the Real as he did because it is by its very nature indescribable. Reality is that which a signifier fails to capture. In terms of Hegelian dialectics the Real must exist in tension with the Imaginary and the Symbolic, for something to exist, its inverse must exist also, for existence to be there must also be a state of non-being. Everything that comes into our field of recognition by means of a signifier, something of it must remain imperceptible, unsymbolised, this is the Real. The Real is smooth and undifferentiated, it is the chaos from which the world came into being, by means of the Word. The Symbolic brings into being all the phenomena of our world, these only exist because they have been symbolised., but the Real is ineffable and unimaginable, And so, in psychoanalysis, understanding the Real sheds light on psychological symptoms such as melancholia or repetition-compulsion whereby something unsymbolised is forming a sticking point’ in the Subject’s functioning and it is through symbolisation, verbalisation upon the analyst’s couch, that this bit of Real may be dealt with. I am not sure what the success rate for that is, but why is the Real ineffable and unimaginable? How is Lacan able to talk about it and imagine it then? Is not Lacan advocating for what Hegel described as a spurious idealism whereby a divide intrudes between consciousness on one side and the in-itself (ultimate reality lurking behind the apprehension of an object) on the other, whereas classical metaphysics succeeded very well in a direct apprehension of reality (something Hegel endeavoured to recapture)? You see, the human body is not interested in pleasure of any kind. It is only interested in maintaining the sensitivity of the nervous system and the functioning of the body. So, the moment you say a particular sensation is pleasurable, the demand to make it last longer goes with it. Then, the demand to make the pleasure last longer turns what we call pleasure into pain. That is a painful sensation to the body, which is trying to be rid of the pleasurable sensation. And what we are stuck with is pain. #pain #love #life #body #ug #krisnamurti #LOL https://lnkd.in/djXsh2kt
