Enhancing Thermal Efficiency - Minimizing Energy Loss The quality of a window largely depends on its sealing. Optimal tightness is crucial to prevent the loss of the gas fill and the infiltration of unwanted humidity. In this regard, the perimeter spacer plays a vital role: ✔️ Maintains the glass panes at a predetermined distance from each other ✔️ Secures the gas fill in the space between the panes ✔️ Prevents the ingress of moisture (water vapor) In recent years, the use of a two-stage bonded perimeter spacer has become standard practice. The first part consists of a spacer, while the second part ensures the sealing and functionality. To seal the perimeter spacer, elastic substances such as polyurethane or polysulfides are commonly utilized. When the window is exposed to increased UV radiation at its installed location, silicone is typically employed. This ensures a long-lasting seal. Our innovative chemistry for glass insulation provides efficient thermal insulation and improved energy efficiency in buildings. 🏢💡🌍 Learn more about our applications and products for insulating glass on our website. #GlassInsulation #EnergyEfficiency #Sustainability #hbfuller #kömmerling #ködispace #4SG #polyurethan #polysulfide #windows #facade #architects #modernbuilding #TPS https://lnkd.in/ePP3KUtD

Synthetic and composite materials are not always the best option for your customer. That's why Luxsol has a range of shutters that are fit for purpose. PVC and composites have become very popular in the shutter market, but can't always span the widths needed due to their weight. Did you know MDF/PVC weighs around 800-1400kg m3, Aluminium can weigh up to 2,500Kg m3 while timber like Basswood and Paulownia is only around 300-400Kg m3? Due to the extra weight of synthetic and composite material over wider spans blades can start to deflect, panels often drop when opened and your fitter will curse when installing them (just ask them). Timber comes into it own due to it's lighter mass when you need less panels on your windows. Timber being a natural material is efficient in its production, has carbon stored in the material and is better insulation for heat and noise. If you haven’t tried Luxsol yet, get in touch and talk to us. With over 30 years of industry experience we are hard to beat for value (we know what we’re talking about). Need something in a hurry. Luxsol's Poly100AU with a 3 week lead time will help secure a sale you might otherwise miss. Interested in building with clay/earth material? Zukunft Bau has just published a research report with the latest findings. In the project "Sustainable and Reliable Construction with Earth," Dr.-Ing. Maximilian Brinkmann developed a semi-probabilistic safety concept, focusing on the impact of moisture on structural reliability. Experimental studies revealed a direct correlation between material moisture and the compressive strength of earth materials, leading to a new load-bearing model. The findings demonstrate that the semi-probabilistic method allows for a dependable design of earth masonry walls, especially when protected against driving rain. These insights significantly influenced German standards for earth construction materials, enhancing their normative regulation and reliability. Talks about #iron #steelmaking, #cokemaking, #refractory #ferrochrome #production #logistics #procurement #ESG #greensteel #hydrogen #energy #transition #sustainability #decarbonisation #investment
𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗜𝗿𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗦𝗹𝗮𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗲 by home-of-steel.de The contribution of the by-products of the #steelindustry to the conservation of resources, the #circulareconomy and #climate protection continued to be great in the past year. Due to the somewhat lower steel production in #Germany last year, 11.7 million tons of iron and steel #slag were produced, 6.4 percent less than in 2021. As in previous years, 95 percent could be used primarily in #cement and #concrete, in roadway construction and in #fertilizers . This avoided the quarrying of more than 14 million tons of natural rock and the #emission of 5 million tons of #CO2 . The total amount of iron and steel slag used in 2022 was 11.1 million tons. They consist of 7.9 million tons of #blastfurnace slag and 3.2 million tons of #steelworks slag. Of this, 7 million tons were used as blast furnace slag, 3.1 million tons as aggregates and 0.5 million tons each as fertilizer and circulating materials within the plant. Ferrous slags are high-quality secondary #rawmaterials. While the use of blast furnace slag made it possible to substitute a total of 398 million tons of lime, clay and sand between 1948 and 2022, a total of 625 million tons of #naturalrock were used in the case of aggregates for #road #construction and a total of 86 million tons of natural lime in the case of fertilizers. By using blast furnace slag instead of Portland cement clinker in the cement, a total of 227 million tonnes less CO2 was emitted. For Thomas Reiche, Managing Director of the FEhS - Building Materials Institute, the figures are renewed confirmation of the importance of by-products in the steel industry. Thomas Reiche says: “In contrast to #recycling materials, #iron and #steel slags are high-quality, resource-saving and climate-friendly secondary raw materials even in their first life. They have been making an important contribution to a #sustainable circular economy in Germany for decades. To ensure that this can also be ensured in the future after the #transformation of the steel industry, we have been researching the new slags together with our partners since 2013. For example with the projects 'DRI/EOS' and 'Save CO2 ' for blast furnace slag 2.0.”
