🔴 This Friday, March 15, we invite you to the “Health for all” conference in Cieszyn. Among the topics covered will be: Towards a European health union. 🔴 Can Europe deliver better health for all? It should and it can. The EU can have a transformative power to help deliver better access and quality for care and health services all across the Union. This session will explore how political cooperation at the EU level can be a determinant of our well-being and what policies should be constructed to build a solid European Health Union. For instance, steps have to be taken to better pool European resources and make health and pharma products more affordable, to tackle health disparities and improve on quality standards. ⚪️ The conference: - will be held in English, but will be translated into Polish. - is open and requires registration in advance: https://lnkd.in/g6iuv34z

Hans Martens have a great conference. Big opportunity here to boost disease management programmes across numerous NCD areas with a better package of prevention and support. We need improvement in structured lifestyle changes, routine monitoring of basic signs/symptoms, patient education and peer support, patient-led goal setting and motivational approaches, and better psycho-social care. No disrespect to anyone, but we have to ask if the hospital or clinic is the right setting for all of these broader elements of the DMP to really come together, if they are to be engaging, long term, and organised around someone's life. The evidence is pretty clear we need to raise our game, and quickly. For example, the EUROASPIRE III survey showed that 18 months after a stroke, basic CVD risk management has failed in more than half of patients. Same is largely true post-MI. We have to do better, its a good time for some new ideas.
Europe' s health systems are under pressure from many sides, including the demographic developments. It is therefore crucially important that we do what we can to increase the number of healthy life years for Europeans. This will not only be better for citizens but also ease the pressure on health systems. And a lot has to do with healthy life styles, and if you agree you should consider joining me and EuropActive at the upcoming milestone event: Exercise for Health Summit to be held in Madrid 20-22 November.
