Connecting Neighbors for Better Health
Blue Cross Complete of Michigan is offering a new program at no cost to you that fits with our mission to help people get care, stay well and build healthy communities. The Connect for Life program from Wider Circle brings together health and community resources for members close to your home, making it easier for you and your neighbors to stay connected and take care of each other where you live.
Whether you need help understanding how to get the most out of your benefits, getting set up with the right housing, food or job training resources, or arranging no-cost rides to your medical appointments, there’s now a Wider Circle group that meets regularly in your neighborhood, ready to welcome you.
Suite of Services
The program currently includes small group, in person events led by a trained facilitator. Social distance rules will be enforced and temperatures will be taken at the door – your health and safety is our top priority. Topics can vary depending on member interests and input, but could include:
- Getting the most out of your health plan benefits
- COVID-19 preparedness and support – including virtual group meetings and buddy check-in calls
- Stress and anxiety management
- Health and nutrition
When social distance restrictions are lifted, the program will expand to include larger community activities and social outings.
COVID-19 Safety Reminder
Safety comes first. You’ll need to bring a mask with you to every Blue Cross Complete / Wider Circle social distancing event. If you don’t have a mask, we’ll provide one for you. Temperatures will be taken at the door. We’ll be physically distancing. If you or someone in your home has been sick or has tested positive for COVID-19, you should skip this event and come to the next one. What is Wider Circle?
Wider Circle is an organization contracted by Blue Cross Complete of Michigan. They bring together people in the same neighborhood for fun events, interesting health topics and socialization.
There’s no cost to Blue Cross Complete members to participate. Members can attend as many events as they like.
Will my participation affect my health plan benefits?
No, whether you participate or not, your health plan benefits won’t be affected.
Why is my health plan offering Wider Circle to me?
Blue Cross Complete is always looking for new ways to keep members healthy and connected.
Can you send me a schedule?
Members of the program help us choose from the many events we have available. Once an event is confirmed, your group facilitator can send you an email or text message to let you know dates and times. If you’d like to join any of the events listed, you can call Wider Circle at 1-888-868-9808.
Is transportation available?
Transportation may be available to certain events. Please contact Wider Circle at 1-888-868-9808.
Do I have to commit to a long program by attending this event?
No. You can join us to meet our team, learn more about our program and connect with your neighbors. If you decide it’s not for you, that’s ok. But we’d love for you to try it out.
