Eunice Lasi, the defeated New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate aspirant for the Sege constituency in the Greater Accra region, has resigned from the party to contest the 2024 polls as an independent candidate.

At a press conference in Sege on Tuesday, December 12, Madam Lasi announced she is quitting the NPP after listening to advice from her supporters following her loss in the party's primaries last week.

She was defeated by Dodzie Numekevor in last week’s NPP parliamentary primaries but alleged infractions by Constituency and Regional executives which influenced the outcome.

Madam Lasi who represented the party in the 2020 parliamentary elections said she had notified the NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Koduah about his resignation from the party over the issues.

She has now directed her supporters to remove all NPP markings from her campaign posters as she prepares to contest the 2024 elections as an independent candidate.
