Slovakian manager Jan Kozak caused a stir after the Russia match when he claimed Hamsik deserves to play for a bigger club than Napoli, the Italian club Hamsik currently captains and has represented since 2007.

Hamsik’s agent Juraj Venglos then told Slovakian news outlet Pluska that he had received multiple calls from clubs looking to acquire his client’s services.

After the match with Russia, I had a number of phonecalls.

I won’t be specific at the moment though, Marek has a contract with Napoli. His value was already high, and it certainly won’t have gone down. He was already well-known, it’s not just about these two games he’s played.

Could he leave for €35m? It could be that, it depends on the conditions of Napoli. It could be higher or it could be lower. Or in the end it might be irrelevant. Because he could stay at Napoli? Yes, anything is possible.

Hamsik has become the face of Slovakian football, named the nation’s player of the year in five of the past seven seasons.

At 28-years-old, Hamsik’s value will never be higher than this summer when the transfer window opens on July 1. Big offers will certainly come in, which will force Hamsik to decide if he wants to move away from a club he has made more than 400 appearances for throughout his career.
