Derek Lindert '22 Recruiting Profile

Throughout my life, I continuously strive for greatness in the classroom and in the field of competition. As a kid, I quickly realized my passion for sports. Being a coach’s son, I would spend countless hours working towards my athletic goals. Once I hit my teens, I started taking everything to the next level, trying to make my dreams my reality through hard work and dedication. 

In high school, I hold a 3.65 GPA and am a 3 sport athlete who has quickly found success at the Varsity level, so far lettering in all three sports and earning all conference recognition in both football and basketball my freshman and sophomore years. In my sophomore year I was given the chance to lead by my coach and I took full advantage of it. I repeatedly took on our opposing teams’ toughest player, as well as taking on the responsibility of creating plays for not only myself but others on my team.  I averaged 25.8 points, 4.5 assists and 8.9 rebounds to finish my sophomore year, and I was thankful in receiving recognition for all my hard work on the hardwood, including garnering multiple honors including Conference Player of the Year,  Area Player of the Year, and Honorable Mention All State.  I want to be great, and am dedicated to the work it takes to reach that goal.   As a junior, I got 1st team all state for division 4 and unanimous 1st team all conference.

Looking into the future, I am looking for a program that will fit me as a person as well as me as an athlete. I am looking for a school that is just as dedicated to winning and hard work as I am, as well as a school that will help me reach my academic goals. I hope to continue to grow as both a leader on and off the court, and I hope the program that I attend matches that desire.
