Admirals rebound from rough loss, even series with Jacksonville

Noah Corson scored two goals and Blake Murray added a goal and an assist as the Norfolk Admirals bounced back from a lopsided loss for a 4-2 victory over the Jacksonville Icemen before 1,457 fans Wednesday night at Scope.

The Admirals (23-35-2-3) opened a five-game homestand — all against the Icemen — on Tuesday night with a 9-3 loss.

Corson’s goals gave him 19 on the season, which ranks second on the team. Norfolk’s leading scorer, Alex Tonge, had two assists to give him a team-high 57 points.

Greg Betzold scored the Admirals’ other goal, giving him 10 this season. Murray’s goal was his 12th.

Norfolk goalie Dylan Wells made 30 saves to earn his 14th victory of the season.

Jacksonville (36-22-3-2) outshot the Admirals 32-23, but had 17 penalty minutes compared to Norfolk’s 13.

The two teams will play again Friday (7:30 p.m.), Saturday (7:30 p.m.) and Sunday (5 p.m.) at Scope.
