The Norfolk Admirals started their two-game ECHL series at Worcester by surging in the third period for a 4-1 victory Friday night before 1,839 at DCU Center in Massachusetts.

Winning goalie Yaniv Perets made 30 saves to earn No. 1 star honors. He made nine saves in the third period, when Norfolk outscored Worcester 3-0.

The Admirals (9-6-1-1) will try to gain a sweep Saturday night.

Keaton Jameson, named the night’s No. 2 star, gave Norfolk a 1-0 lead 16:31 into the game. Ashton Calder pulled the Railers (7-8-2-1) even 8:49 into the middle period, scoring on a power play.

Mark Liwiski put the Admirals ahead to stay, scoring off a Justin Robidas assist 4:24 into the third period. Keegan Iverson then made the lead 3-1 with assists from Liwiski and Josh McDougall 8:35 into the final period.

With just more than two minutes remaining, Worcester coach Jordan Lavallee-Smotherman pulled goalie Henrik Tikkanen for an extra attacker. But a penalty soon put the Admirals on a power play, and Mathieu Roy sealed the victory with an empty-net goal with about nine seconds remaining.
