There was a point in history when zeppelins and airships filled the skies. The Hindenburg is probably the most famous zeppelin – in large part due to the airship's accident – but it was far from the only vehicle of its time to take to the sky. Today it's hard to imagine what it was like to look up and see one of the airships looming over the US capitol or New York City. Below is a collection of historical photos depicting everything from zeppelins being built to hitting the skies – as well as a look inside the Hindenburg and shots of the infamous airship arriving in New Jersey.
