      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Though Black Mirror's abbreviated fifth season never quite reaches the heights (or surprises) of previous installments, it remains one of TVs strangest philosophical offerings -- for better or worse.

Nick S It was good, not as good as some of the previous seasons but still some imaginitive ideas. I liked it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/01/24 Full Review Matthew C This is the weakest season, but still solid. Striking Vipers was easily the best episode from season 5. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/20/23 Full Review London H -Episode 1 is strange and probably could've done something different with that episode -Episode 2 is okay but should've had more in it I feel and tell us what happened in the very end. -Episode 3 is Amazing! In future episodes they should be more like this, it has good story building a good ending and interesting/lovable characters only thing I would've changed is tell the audience what happened to the main villain instead of having us assume what happen. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/13/23 Full Review Henry B As good as the previous seasons. The first episode is so good. Very memorable. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/03/23 Full Review Mrio L Few concerts have left me as entertained as this one. Sensational. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 07/01/23 Full Review Luke C Utterly dreadful. There are no redeeming episodes. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/28/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Lauren Carroll Harris Guardian The concepts are simple, and yet showrunners Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones find evermore potent ways to drive down into humanity's darker instincts. Jul 19, 2019 Full Review James Jackson Times (UK) Anything that's tech and dystopian is now "a bit Black Mirror", but the latest three episodes remind you how it's the human moments that set the series apart from mere tech horrors. Rated: 4/5 Jun 7, 2019 Full Review Kathryn VanArendonk New York Magazine/Vulture Season five is a mess, and nothing about it suggests that Black Mirror retains its original, unnerving insight into the ever-blurring borders between the digital and the human. Jun 5, 2019 Full Review Paul Lê Nightmare on Film Street Subtracting "Striking Vipers" from the equation, the season wasn't exactly innovative. No entry this season is unwatchable. Even the least impressive of the bunch is easy to get through. Rated: 2.5/5 Jul 20, 2023 Full Review Alex Moreland alexmoreland.co.uk With its move to Netflix, Black Mirror transformed from observing and satirising digital culture to becoming an active tool in some of its worst contemporary excesses. Dec 4, 2021 Full Review Kshitij Rawat The Indian Express There was little novelty that we have come to expect from this show. Let's hope Charlie Brooker's devilish mind has something more impressive for the show's future. Mar 9, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews
