A resurfaced interview of Kirsten Dunst talking about having to kiss a 31-year-old Brad Pitt in the 1994 movie Interview with the Vampire when she was just 12 years old has just gone viral on TikTok!

In the now-viral interview, Dunst, now 41, recalled starring in the movie adaptation of Anne Rice’s novel. She played the role of Claudia, a 10-year-old girl who is turned into a vampire by Louis de Pointe du Lac and Lestat de Lioncourt, who were played by Pitt, now 59, and Tom Cruise, now 61, respectively. Perhaps the most memorable and controversial moment of the entire movie came when Claudia kissed Pitt’s character Louis on the lips. Dunst has spoken about that kiss many times over the years, and has always made it clear that it felt awkward and uncomfortable.

Kirsten Dunst Was Always Very Vocal About Struggling With The Brad Pitt Kiss

In a 2021 interview with Vanity Fair, the Woodshock actress said that although she was “treated like a total princess on set,” she always struggled with the kiss. She said: “I was a little girl and he was like a brother to me and it was very weird even though it was a peck. I was very not into it.”

The Spider-Man actress felt the same way all those years ago too, telling Entertainment Tonight just after the filming wrapped: “I hated [the kiss] so much because Brad was like my older brother on set and it’s kind of like kissing your brother. It’s weird because he’s an older guy and I had to kiss him on the lips, so it was gross.” Four years later, she told Interview magazine: “Kissing Brad was so uncomfortable for me. I remember saying in interviews that I thought it was gross, that Brad had cooties. I mean, I was 10.”

A 1994 Interview Where Kirsten Dunst Explains How ‘Awkward’ The Kiss Was Has Now Gone Viral

Although Dunst has spoken about her disapproval of the kiss on many occasions, it was a 1994 Little Women promo interview alongside her Little Women costar Samantha Matthis, who was 24 at the time, that recently got fans’ attention. In the interview, which was posted on TikTok by user @nomorelatefees, the Beguiled star was quizzed on the kiss by both the interviewer and Matthis, and the way she held her ground and stood up for her beliefs was commended in the comments section. Many fans praised the young star for being so aware of the situation and being so open about her feelings, with many others simply commenting on how “sad” it was that the kiss had to happen like that.

In the video, the interviewer asked a young Kirsten: “Did you really hate kissing Brad Pitt?” to which she replied, “Yeah because, well, y’know what, I love Brad, he’s so nice… it was just, like, it feels awkward. I mean I’m 12, And he’s, like, 31 and it’s like, he’s a man. So why would I enjoy kissing him?” The interviewer then asked Matthis, “Alright Samantha, how about you? If you had the chance to kiss Brad Pitt?” to which she replied, “Oh, I don’t think I’d turn it down! I mean, he’s a wonderful actor too though, but I understand.”

She then told the young Two Faces of January actress, “Maybe you’re not into kissing boys yet, so I can relate.” However, Dunst immediately replied, “Well, especially because Brad is 31. I mean, he’s not exactly a boy.” “If he were 15 maybe?” the interviewer then asked, with Matthis adding, “It might be better?” to which Dunst then replied, “Yeah,” although we’re not sure if that’s what she really believed.

@nomorelatefees Replying to @nomorelatefees The fact she had to do that scene was bad enough but why would the interviewer even question her about not liking it. #Hollyweird #KirstenDunst #samanthamathis #bradpitt ♬ original sound – No More Late Fees Podcast

Fan Comments

One TikTok user called a young Dunst “the only sensible one” in the entire interview, with another person agreeing, saying, “She’s always been a smart one,” and another adding, “She’s so well spoken at that age and pretty fearless.” Another said: “She was 12. He was a grown [expletive] man. Leave her alone. She shouldn’t have to defend it being awkward.”

“The child should not have to explain this to an adult,” said another TikTok user, as another said that the interviewer saying, “Maybe you’re just not into kissing boys yet” was “invalidating how uncomfortable she was and trying to place the blame on her.” “She’s so young this is really sad,” commented another user, as someone else said, “What a brave little girl for even speaking her feelings,” as another concurred, adding, “It’s amazing she voiced her concerns.”
