It's been an incredible first half for the Atlanta Braves.

The Braves have the best record in the National League at 56-27, have won eight games in a row and nine of their last 10.

They just swept the division rival Marlins and now have a 9.0 game lead in the National League East.

And the team's excellent first half was highlighted on Sunday when the Braves were given eight All-Star representatives for the All-Star Game in Seattle, which takes place on July 11.

Ronald Acuna Jr., Matt Olson, Orlando Arcia, Sean Murphy, Austin Riley, Ozzie Albies, Spencer Strider and Bryce Elder are all headed to the Midsummer Classic.

While eight players overall is impressive, the fact that the Braves have six position player representatives puts them in an elite class of baseball history.

Per Sarah Langs of MLB.com:

6 of those Braves All-Stars are position players, tied for the 3rd-most by a team in a year, behind only:

1976 Reds: 7

1939 Yankees: 7

Last team w/6: 2008 BOS

Before that: 1978 BOS

We haven't seen six position player reps for a team in 15 years, so that's further proof of how special the Braves season is.

Currently, Acuna is on pace to be the National League MVP while Olson leads the National League in home runs with 28. Strider leads all of baseball in strikeouts with 155.

The Braves take on the Guardians on Monday night, beginning a new series among teams battling in the playoff race.
