4. The suffix- esthesia is combined with numerous prefixes and word roots to make a variety of word that describe conditions or symptoms of a disease or injury to the nervous system. Such as: Acroanesthesia Loss of sensation in the extremities; such as the hands, fingers, toes, and feet. Acroparesthesia Disease marked by attacks of tingling in the outer parts of the body. Numbness, tingling, and/or other abnormal sensations of the extremities (for example, the fingers, hands, forearms, and toes); usually due to a carpal tunnel syndrome but also from other causes; seen frequently in organic disorders, especially peripheral nerve lesions.
