Versuch bey angehender Frühlingszeit die Vergrösserungs Werckzeuge. Nuremberg: A.L. Wirsing, 1764

FIRST EDITION, folio (482 x 340mm.), hand-coloured engraved title-page with rococo border by Wirsing after Ledermüller, text in German and French, 12 hand-coloured engraved plates by Wirsing after Ledermüller, uncut, contemporary tan boards, housed in modern half calf folding case, occasional staining to lower right corner (not affecting text or engravings), some leaves or plates slightly shorter, rubbed

Ledermüller (1719-1769) produced the drawings himself for this study after the botanical artist Fossier. The plates depict microscopal views of plants, including the iris, rose, and ranunculus, alongside images of their component parts.
