I initially started shooting macro as just a way to learn how to use my camera without getting overly caught up in composition or waiting for some wildlife to present itself and then not being able to capture the scene . You can really take your time with macro photography as generally the subject is stationary. It’s a great way to practice different techniques like focus stacking and exposure bracketing. I prefer to shoot macro with natural light but it’s also a great time to learn about different lighting techniques and using the external flash. It’s also something I can do without a long excursion someplace or getting up at the crack of dawn.
