UBER RARE Original WW2 German Sheep Skin Greatcoat / Wehrmacht Fur Winter Overcoat (Pelzmantel) DAF Sentry Guard

This type of extreme cold weather Greatcoat is nearly impossible to find.

The sheep skin overcoat was designed for wear over the wool greatcoat or parka in extremely cold climates and These animal skin greatcoats were issued to stationary guards, sentries, truck drivers, bomber crews, and front line combat troops for wear over their uniform for extreme winter conditions. Some were made at factories within the Reich and occupied territories, others made locally by unit tailors in the theater of operations. A wide variety were made, some conforming to conventional patterns, whilst others were of a more personalised nature. The animal skin coats were returned to a storage depot at the end of the season for repairs and reissue the following year.

This version has built into the wool collar a tuck away hood.

Another very cool feature is the DAF (German Labour Front) swastika in a gear wheel buttons on the sleeve openings. Likely hinting to this coat as being issued to a DAF Sentry guard or possibly just a custom touch as i haven’t seen another like it.

The overcoat is not visibly marked or dated.

There are some rips and tears but could easily be stitched back like was period done a few times before reissuing.

Condition is surprisingly good for a old wartime used lambskin coat and would display amazingly on a eastern front mannequin.

This is a very large and heavy coat so prepare for a hefty shipping fee because of the size and weight of the box.
