The Germany offshoot "D.I.S. Gemany Ltd." of a US company of the same name has now started operations at the new Pirna plant. The company has had a new production facility built in the Copitz-Nord industrial park since August 2022, covering an area of around 6,000 square meters. It is divided into a 1,400-square-meter research and development campus and a precision manufacturing center measuring over 4,500 square meters. According to D.I.S. Germany, it has invested around 8.5 million euros in the Pirna site to date.

The company specializes in ion beam technology - i.e. tiny charged particles that can be controlled by means of electric or magnetic fields. In Pirna, highly complex assemblies are fitted with these particles, which are used, among other things, in cancer therapies in medicine, in the analysis of gases and in the semiconductor industry. A center of excellence for this field is to be established at the Pirna site. According to company founder David Diep, the company wants to redefine industry and revolutionize manufacturing technologies in Pirna. The company sees itself as part of the city of Pirna and wants to create new jobs here.

The Pirna plant currently employs twelve people; by mid-2024, the workforce is expected to grow to around 30, and in the not too distant future it could be up to 100 employees. The company is currently looking for developers, designers, electrical engineers, programmers, IT technicians, plant engineers and CNC specialists to operate the machines for production.
