Charlie Rivel, one of the most famous clown of the world, was already appearing in the circus when he was nine; 1924 he came to Germany for the first time. In the beginning he had success with his imitation of Charles Chaplin but then he developed his own style. In 1931 he presented his most famous number ''Akrobat schoooon!'', at the Scala in Berlin. 1952 he went on his first tour in West-Germany after World War II - and returned 1971 after a break of 15 years.
